4 Unmanned Aircraft Operating Areas in Controlled Airspace and Flight Information Zone

The area is meant for operating unmanned aircraft. According to Aviation Act § 51 section 1 the Estonian Transport~~Civil~~ ~~Aviation~~ Administration ~~(ECAA)~~ special permit is necessary for operating unmanned aircraft in this area. Establishment of the area does not put restrictions on other air traffic.

In this area unmanned aircraft operation does not need regular required coordination nor responsible ATS units' permission.

Restrictions and Conditions for Operating Unmanned Aircraft in area:

Operator shall have valid Estonian Transport Administration~~ECAA~~ special permit which permits operating in area.
Operator shall familiarise themselves with airspace information (AIP, AIP SUPs and NOTAMs) before operating unmanned aircraft in area. Information is available at website aim.eans.ee.
Unmanned aircraft shall be operated within maximum of 0.14 NM (250 m) radius from the operator and shall be in Visual Line-Of-Sight for the whole duration of the flight.
Unmanned aircraft shall give way to all manned aircraft.
When operating unmanned aircraft, reasonable own separation shall be maintained between other aircraft.
Operator is obliged to report immediately to Tallinn ACC Operational Supervisor of Estonian Air Navigation Services by phone +372 625 8254, if connection is lost with unmanned aircraft or it flies uncontrollably.
The Estonian Transport Administration~~ECAA~~ special permit given to the operator does not permit operating unmanned aircraft above closed premises, public events and gathering of people, if it has not been coordinated beforehand with the premises owner or event organiser.

Own separation – a situation where aircraft pilots are responsible for spacing between aircraft.
Reasonable own separation – aircraft pilots shall ensure such spacing between aircraft that aircraft shall not affect one another.
Visual Line-Of-Sight – an operation in which the remote pilot or remotely piloted aircraft observer maintains direct unaided visual contact with the remotely piloted aircraft. Operator is always in control to avoid collisions and to land the remotely piloted aircraft safely.
